Product Description
Low pressure mold casting, also known as low pressure Die Casting, is a metal casting process that is mostly used in the production of parts made out of aluminum and magnesium alloys. A slower filling velocity with respect to high pressure die casting allows greater flexibility in design and the use of sand cores to cast the more intricate parts of the piece. The low pressure used results in a much lower occurrence of turbulence, substantially reducing the possibility of air entrapment. Low pressure permanent mold casting is especially suited for the production of numerous aluminum automotive parts such as wheels and cylinder heads. It is also used in the chemical and offshore oil industries for the production of security boxes. The molds are usually made out of aluminum (H11-H13) and are built with cooling channels that assist in a faster cooling of the cast piece resulting in greater productivity.
